The Man God Has For You Will Pursue You
It's part three of #everythingrelationship… The title of this week’s blog is: the Man GOD has for you will pursue YOU. Don’t get it twisted, it’s not the man YOU have for you, it’s the man GOD has for you will pursue you. Remember: God only funds His plans, but He knows what’s good for you.
To my brothers in Christ, this blog is also for you because it’s time someone sets the standard for what is required of you, when entering into a relationship. There are definitely things, that as a Man of God, you should be able to take away from this.
As we journey through the Book of Genesis, I really want to focus your attention on Jacob, as an exemplar of what a God-honouring Man looks like. The Word says “Jacob worked seven years for Rachel. But it only seemed like a few days, because he loved her so much.” That’s what he thought anyways… until he was deceived by Laban into sleeping with Leah, Rachel’s older sister, instead.
The Word makes a distinct comparison between Leah and Rachel and poor Leah seems to be the “unattractive” one. Although it takes Laban to humble Jacob, he doesn’t stop there. Jacob agrees to work another seven whole years, to take Rachel as his wife. If your man ain’t willing to work for you and put in the effort to pursue you like Jacob did for Rachel – he ain’t the one. For the man God has for you will work hard for you.
A man of God will make sacrifices for you. He will make the effort to spend time with you and show you how much he loves you by the fruits he bears. A man of God will love you like Christ loved the Church, by laying down his life for you. That man is the man God has for you.
For God designed men to be the natural pursuers. Yet, I know so many girls who exert all their energy chasing some guy, when it was never meant to be that way in the first place. Know your worth and let the man God has for you come to you.
“The man who finds a wife finds a treasure.” – Proverbs 18:22
Some of you women of God, are giving away for free, what one man should get the opportunity to work for. As women of God, you need to put some value and worth on who you are. At the end of the day, we are the prize. Maybe, God has hidden you for the right man to seek.
I know so many girls who want a rich guy, but what they don’t realise is that most rich guys are rich because they make good investments. Maybe, the way you’re living your life, he’s thinking you may look good on the outside, but there’s nothing to invest into long-term. You attract what you are.
You can say you want someone who’s funny, but if you’re out here moping around and complaining about life, then how is that going to work out. If you want a Godly man, best believe you better be on fire for the Lord!
As a man of God, before you even waste time pursing someone, ask God for permission to pursue. Some of us waste so much time and effort chasing after our own dreams and plans, but sometimes they ain’t in line with God’s plans. That's when we end up back at where we started, with minimal progress. If God wants a person in your life, God will fund His plans and everything will fall into place.
Now, I’m not saying the man God has for you will be perfect… Everyone has their weaknesses. But the Word is clear when it says: “You will know them by their fruit”. A person who is rooted deep in Christ and bears fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control is the type of person I want to attract. In my season of singleness, these are also fruits that I desire to produce myself.
If God is calling me to marriage, I trust that He will send forth a God-honouring man that will pursue me, like Jacob pursued Rachel and that will love me, like Christ loved the Church. Chivalry ain’t dead! The Word is my hope that if God can provide for them, then He will provide for you and me…
Thanks for sticking around for part three and making it halfway through the Bible Study. I hope to see you around next week…
