Dear Believers...

I wish I could tell you that from now on, life would be easy. I wish I could tell you that all your troubles would go away. But every day you wake up to a battle - a battle between satisfying the flesh or the spirit. Each day we choose whether to pick up our cross and follow Him.

As a result, we’re constantly going against what the world is telling us. Living out our faith, makes life a battle of resistance and sometimes that can feel like social exile. Ever experienced “FOMO” (Fear Of Missing Out)? Just because we ain’t getting high or drunk at parties, doesn’t mean us Christians can’t live our best lives. It can seem like we’re missing out on all the “fun”, but at least we’re not hungover the next day regretting our decisions, because that sureee sounds like fun.

Everyone likes to preach “YOLO” (You Only Live Once), but believers we live twice. How we continue to live our lives now, will determine how we live for the rest of eternity. The Christian life is not an easy route. But that’s why God gives us His grace to live it out.

I get it, the struggle is real when you’re constantly surrounded by things that the Bible clearly condemns, yet somehow it has become a “norm” in our society. Pornography, drugs, alcohol and sex are viewed as merely a thing everyone does. But as Christians, we’re not called to be everyone.

God wants to open up your eyes to see clearly your path set apart from the path of this world which leads to sin and immorality and to not to be blind sighted by what the world has to offer. For it can only offer a fraud, counterfeit type of satisfaction, incomparable to the joy of knowing the Lord.

“They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you”. - 1 Peter 4:4

This verse gives me strength for trust me, you will get mocked for what sets you apart. You’ll get called a “weirdo” just because you choose a way different to this world. But don’t lose faith, for “If you suffer because you are a Christian, don’t be ashamed of it, but thank God that you bear Christ’s name”. For that truly in itself is a blessing.

If we’re made in the image of God, surely we need to conform to His ways and look the part. To the world, we need to shine a light into areas which are covered in darkness and show them a hope of a better way. For our God is a God of second chances, new beginnings and new starts. It’s a choice, whether we choose to crucify the flesh in order to make room for the spirit to lead us.

At times it can feel so easy to conform to everything going on around us, but if we cling to the Word of God, a consistent truth, we rather can be transformed by the renewing of our minds daily. We need to rely on the Word of God to be our strength and provide us with a strong conviction.

If Jesus is our cornerstone, everything that surrounds us will be blessed. But when Jesus is exiled from our circle, we allow idols to take precedence in our lives, whether this be Netflix or Social Media.

When you subtract from the blessing of Jesus in your life, you’re only robbing yourself of true joy. Non-believers will mock you for your faith but stand confirmed as a son or daughter of the King of Kings – for you walk in the authority of the Lord. Let no one tear you down…

POINT TO PONDER: You were created to be different.

VERSE TO LIVE: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind – Romans 12:2

QUESTION TO CONSIDER: Is Jesus the cornerstone of your life?

PRAYER: Lord, I pray that you continue to renew our minds so that we do not become blind-sighted by what the world has to offer, but that we look to be confirmed in you instead.
