Created By God To Set The World On Fire

“Be who you were created to be and you will set the world on fire.” – St Catherine of Sienna.

In a world of constant comparison, it’s so easy to slip into that mindset of insecurity and forget the truth about your identity in Christ. You were created to glorify God with your entire life; to be God's image-bearers in a society which fails to recognise Him. As children of the Most High, you are so precious to God, that if you only knew your worth and your full potential, you would be able to carry out God’s will for your life and truly set the world on fire.

In order to set the world on fire, our souls need to burn with a desire to know the Creator. The more you quench your thirst by seeking the Creator, the more the Holy Spirit can set you on fire. As believers, we should have that burning desire to know God, to love God and to serve Him in everything we do. The more time you spend in His presence, the more God can transform you into the beautiful masterpiece He created you to be.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” – Ephesians 2:10

You will be God's beautiful masterpiece if you allow God to be your source of beauty. Our God is a God of glory, so it hurts Him deeply when you look at yourself in the mirror, through a distorted worldview and believe that you’re not good enough. Instead, if only you viewed yourself through the lens of the Creator, you would have that confidence to go forth as ambassadors for Christ.

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” – Matthew 5:14-16

When we’re in His presence, we are able to become radiant. It’s such a beautiful and encouraging thing when we see our fellow believers in Christ, who just radiate the light of Christ to the world. It’s so infectious that it motivates you to strive to a place where you too can radiate that light. However, it all starts with seeking the Creator and soaking up His presence.

“When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, he wasn’t aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the Lord.” — Exodus 34:29

When the love of God shines through us, He is glorified. When God’s light shines through you, it’s irresistible and it draws others closer to Christ. The more you allow God to dwell in your heart, the more radiant you will be. It's about opening up the depths of your heart to God and allowing His presence to fill you with overwhelming joy. As believers, we need to become less visible, in order to make our God more visible and that is when we set the world on fire. Less about me; more about Jesus.

“But thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume. Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing.” — 2 Corinthians 2:14-15

In the same way that the Blood of the Lamb covers us, when we're spiritually alive and in the presence of Jesus, His sweet heavenly perfume covers us. It's a sweet scent that draws others closer to God. When we surrender to God and allow Him to take control of our lives, we allow ourselves to be used as vessels to give glory to Him. God will fill you up so that you can go and fill others with the joy and sweet aromas that points them to Heaven and towards more blessings.

As ambassadors for Christ, our goal should be to draw others closer to Jesus. When people see that your relationship with God fulfils you, they’ll want to have what you have. No relationship can complete you unless that relationship is between you and God.

God is love, so if you’re searching for love then you don’t have to look any further than the Creator. It’s the love of Christ that inflames the hearts of those believers who are truly on fire for the Lord. It means that they can pour out their love to the rest of the world and ultimately, set the world on fire.

It’s a beautiful thing to desire to have a thriving relationship with God. You are God’s ambassadors for hope and you were created to point other people to Heaven, so that they too can experience a thriving relationship with God, knowing that He will never forsake Him.

We all want to be loved, so as believers let us sow ‘Seeds Of Love’ along the path that God calls us to walk. Even if these are ‘Seeds of (Self) Love’, let us figure out the truth about who God created us to be and let us be radiant in His presence...
